With more than 2,100 contenders in the mix, founders of a Kansas City-based cybersecurity company said making the top 25 in a national competition between investor-friendly businesses validates the scalability of homegrown, Midwest innovation.
“As a third generation Kansas City native, I’m extraordinarily proud of the security talent here,” said Aaron Weissenfluh, chief operating officer of Tenfold Security. “We’ve always believed we can build something in Kansas City that competes nationally and internationally.”
Tenfold — founded in 2021 by Weissenfluh and Jon Broek to provide advanced cybersecurity capabilities to organizations without requiring them to build and maintain large internal security teams — advanced through multiple rounds of evaluation before reaching the final round of the Pepperdine Graziadio Business School’s 2026 Most Fundable Companies competition.
Launched in 2018, the program evaluates U.S.-based startups using a proprietary methodology designed to mirror the diligence process of angel investors and venture capitalists. Each company is evaluated based on financial projections, market opportunity, competitive positioning, intellectual property, and management team strength
“We started this company in Kansas City with a belief that there was a fundamentally better way to approach cybersecurity,” said Weissenfluh. “Having an organization like Pepperdine put Tenfold through this level of scrutiny and recognize us as a finalist is meaningful validation of what our team has built.”
Tenfold offers cybersecurity services and technology to organizations across financial services, higher education, legal, government, retail, insurance and technology sectors. Its capabilities include continuous penetration testing, managed security operations, cybersecurity risk management and other services designed to continuously identify and reduce security risk.
“We built Tenfold around the idea that cybersecurity shouldn’t be something organizations evaluate once a year and then put on a shelf,” said co-founder Broek, who also serves as CEO. “Security needs to be continuous. Our team has spent the last five years building the technology and services to make that possible, and reaching the finals of this competition is an important recognition of that work.”
The company remains overwhelmingly founder- and employee-owned, he emphasized.
Finalists and winners in the Most Fundable Companies competition were recognized Sept. 23 in Malibu, California.
