Whether visitors come from across the country or around the globe, Kansas City is prepared to land the plane when the World Cup arrives this summer, said Kathy Nelson, acknowledging geopolitical strife and President Trump’s visa policy are making the U.S. a less attractive destination for international travelers.

“I’m excited more than anything,” said founder LaRonda Lanear. “I don’t feel nervous because I work really well under pressure. It’s going to be a great look.”

“We talk a lot about setting an example for the next generation, and as a mom, my goal isn’t for my daughters and my son to see women’s leadership as an inspiration,” said Brittany Mahomes. “I want them to see women in positions of power and leadership as the norm.”

“We know shoppers love discovering local makers,” said Oak Park’s Karla Rocker Engel, “and at the same time, much of our traffic is driven by well‑known national brands. Our goal is to bridge that gap by giving local businesses the opportunity to tap into that built‑in audience and benefit from the incredible foot traffic our mall generates.”
